The Proposal Movie Review

Cast: Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds

Directed by: Anne Fletcher

Runtime:
1 hr 48 mins

Genre: Comedy

Synopsis.
Margaret Tate (Sandra Bullock) is the executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company, Colden Books, who forces her assistant Andrew Paxton (Ryan Reynolds) to marry her in order to avoid being deported to Canada. He grudgingly accepts, under the condition that he is promoted to the position of editor. When the government investigates, the two are forced to spend the weekend with his parents in Alaska in order to sell the lie. The family suggest they could marry the same weekend, and they reluctantly accept. They start to fall genuinely in love as they spend more and more time together. Because of this, during the wedding ceremony, Margaret decides she cannot do this to Andrew and confesses the business arrangement in front of everyone--including the immigration officer handling their case. She is then told that she has 24 hours to get back to Canada, and thus goes back to New York to pack her things. Upon doing so, however, Andrew shows up at the office and confesses his love for her in front of the entire office staff, proposing marriage all over again.[D-Man2010]

THE VERDICT

On the positive note. Sandra Bullock has this goddess look and with Hunk Reynolds, sure thing they have chemistry.

An Average because it can be worth while. My favorite scene was when Grandma Annie (Betty White) asked Margaret to dance with her in the tune of local chant. That was really funny!

Define Thrill. Like most of the movie goers want to see is the quality of the story, for this one it's predictable. Even seeing the movie poster, a woman proposing to a man would indicate that she has strong personality and the guy will eventually give in, fall in love. Despite of that, I found this movie enjoying to watch, it's worth while.

Looks Familiar. Remember the movie "How to Loose a Guy in 10
Days", where our lovebirds go to the guy's hometown and she'll realize how good her man is. uhm... yes. that's it. Ditto

At least they made a little twist.
If you're a movie geek, I know you have seen the scene where a guy run after his love one in the airport, trying to stop her and be with him happily ever after. I know you've seen that! I know! gee... well at least it didnt end up like that although it was grandma Annie's plan. Speaking of recycle, how many times did you heard the lines, "maawa ka", "bakit? naawa ka ba sa akin noon" in our local screen? Laugh out loud or puke. Tell me whatever happened to creative mind?

P.S.
Don't get discourage with my 3/5 rating. This movie is worthwhile, why do I kept on repeating that? because it's really worthwhile! So If your extremely bored, This movie can offer you a sweet delight.
